Is it just me? BlazeDS woes
May 23, 2008
Trying to get BlazeDS, CF8 and Flexbuilder to talk so that I can build a chat application and the pain it's causing me!
I've read various posts on the subject and just can't seem to get the thing going. As I'm trying to learn Flex and BlazeDS at the same time I'm finding it hard to see where I'm going wrong. I'm pretty sure that I don't need to set up an event gateway to build a simple chat system. Does anyone else share my pain or am I just being dense (it is Friday afternoon so I guess I can be forgiven!)

Thanks for your comment. You're right that CF8 comes with LiveCycle Express. I decided to go with BlazeDS because I will be able to update it when new versions are released, but mainly because I've already got ColdFusion installed on the production web server without LiveCycle (I didn't need it at the time and didn't want to waste any valuable memory/CPU cycles!) and you can't just rerun the CF8 install and add LiveCycle to an existing CF8 install. You actually have to un-install ColdFusion first. Blaze DS just requires bouncing the service.
