Filtered Project Views in ColdFusion Builder

Like Eclipse, ColdFusion Builder uses workspaces to organise your projects. After a while you can end up with a huge list of projects. One solution to this is to create new workspaces for different project types and switch between them. However this is a bit of a pain and there is a simpler way!

Eclipse and ColdFusion Builder allow you to create "Working Sets", which essentially are filtered views of projects in your workspace. To create a new Working set, simply press the little down arrow at the top of your Navigator view pane and choose "Select Working Set".

workingset menu

Hit the "new" button in the dialog window that appears.

Select "Resource" from the list of working set types and press "next".

Give your working set a name and tick any projects that you want to be included in it. Once you've selected all the ones you want, click "finish".

You'll now see your new working set listed and you simple select it and hit OK to view all the projects in that working set in your navigator window.

You can add multiple working sets, and also view more than one working set at a time in the navigator window.

  1. I'm glad you posted this. It seems like most people prefer workspaces, bur I've always preferred working sets. It is a much quicker way to change back and forth. Plus you can keep files open between them, which I don't believe you can do with workspaces.

  3. Thanks Ray and Lola, I must admit that I was one of those people who switched workspaces, simply because I didn't know about working sets. I figure that maybe other people didn't know about them either.

    I hadn't thought about keeping files open - that's a great bonus!
